Pharmacy technicians must possess strong attention to detail, as most of their day to day tasks involve measuring, dosing and dispensing prescription medication according to highly specific orders. They must also have good written and verbal communication skills to provide better and more effective form of communication with other pharmacists, patients, and medical professionals or medical representatives they come into contact with.

Pharmacy technicians must take the initiative in adapting themselves on general and advanced drug information and any major changes occurring in the emerging industry. They may be required to read and be informed on several drug studies, re-evaluate pharmaceutical literature or develop reports about different prescription medications and dispensing activities. In a critical and rapid pharmaceutical environment, they must also possess strong organizational skills and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment without making mistakes.

Pharmacy technicians are generally trained in all medical software programs used by the pharmacy so that they can accurately fill prescription orders, administer patient billing information and accommodate patient reciprocity n a time-efficient manner. Most of them may become proficient in the following kinds of software programs:

  • Medical software that covers several areas such as patient records and prescription processing
  • Inventory management software that includes Cardinal Health Pyxis CII Safe
  • Database software that is used to check for drug compatibility
  • According software that is used for medical billing and reimbursements
  • Label-making software

Most Pharmacy technicians nowadays have enjoyed a rewarding career in the constantly improving and evolving industry of healthcare and prescription medicine while continuing and promoting a stable and straightforward pharmaceutical work environment.

As a certified pharmacy technician, you are the intermediary professional between medical professionals, doctors, pharmacists, insurance companies and patients. You are tasked to receive and verify prescriptions, as well as prepare patient medication – all with no committed mistake. COURSE OBJECTIVES:
